Keep your lips nourished and moisturised this Autumn with our Natural Honey and Peppermint Lip Scrub recipe in 3 simple steps.
The leaves are starting to turn orange, the days are getting shorter and the temperature is slowly dropping. The change of seasons and cooler weather can often wreak havoc on our bodies, especially on our poor lips, drying them out and causing them to crack.
Our lips are pretty amazing, they are constantly regenerating which means that we need to remove the dead skin cells and keep them moisturised!
The best way to do this is to use a natural lip scrub, to gently exfoliate your lips back to a fresh, smooth and soft pout…
And we have the recipe to create a natural honey and peppermint lip scrub at home with products which you probably have in your kitchen cupboard!
LET’S GET MAKING!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
½ tablespoon honey
3tbs caster sugar
½ tsp coconut oil ( you could also use Organic Olive, Sunflower Oil or even Coco Butter!)
1 drop of peppermint oil
STEP 1
Mix ½ tablespoon of organic honey with 3 tablespoons of organic Caster sugar. Slightly warm up the honey in the microwave if it is too solid.
We have chosen caster sugar over other types as it has fine particles which are amazing at naturally exfoliating and removing dead skin cells gently without tearing the skin. The honey is our natural binding agent!

STEP 2
When the honey and sugar are combined add ½ a tablespoon of organic coconut oil and mix together.
If you don't have coconut oil, you could also use coconut butter (melt before mixing) or another organic oil like olive or sunflower.
TOP TIP- A thicker oil would be extra nourishing for really dry skin.
For our recipe we have used Coconut oil as it truly is a wonder product. It is rich in essential fatty acids (vitamin F), which are powerful antioxidants which help fight free radical damage and promote healthy repair regeneration of skin cells.

It is also a natural antibacterial and antifungal so it can help to prevent infections and sores on the lips!
STEP 3
Finally add one drop of peppermint oil and mix together until all of the ingredients are combined into and transfer into a glass pot!
Peppermint oil has a calming effect on inflamed lips, so if this cooler weather has chapped your lips and made them feel sore, this will provide a refreshing, cooling effect.
